Our Donors Are Essential Partners

When you make a charitable gift to Camp Wood YMCA, you help strengthen families across Kansas and America. As the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact. At Camp Wood YMCA your gifts supports the only extended stay overnight YMCA camp in Kansas.  Your gifts make possible a week of summer camp for hundreds of kids.  A traditional campaign experience is possible for them in the last stand of Tallgrass Prairie in North America – in the famous Flint Hills.
Donors were key in our “Great Kids, Great Futures Campaign.” The campaign celebrated its successful completion in 2009 having raised $7.8 million.  The campaign was the first multi-million dollar campaign in the history of Camp Wood YMCA.  It funded major capital improvements since starting in 2005. Campaign gifts funded the construction of new facilities and renovate others. These facilities are tools in the Camp Wood’s effort to give everyone the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The “Big 100” Capital Campaign

The Big 100 Capital Campaign is being conducted to renovate Hutch Hall (chapel), the stone arts and crafts facility, construct new cabins, the “Bowery” a gathering place for all campers, a Nature Education structure, shade placed at program areas, top of the hill observation structure, landscaping and a new water supply plant. The campaign will spruce the place up preparing Camp Wood YMCA for our 100th anniversary in 2015.

 

 

 

Employer Matching Funds

 

Many companies today match your fundraising dollars you contribute to Camp Wood YMCA. Your employer usually will double or even triple the amount you’ve raised! If you are not sure if your employer participates in such a program, check with your Human Resources Department. It’s a great way to double your fundraising efforts.


“Kids to Camp” Annual Fund Drive

This annual drive raises funds for our “kids to camp” scholarship program and is offered each fall, starting in October. It is our way of living up to our commitment to serve all children who wish to take part in our programs. The “kids to camp” scholarships are offered on a family-size and income-sliding scale. Anyone who feels they qualify or would like to be considered for financial assistance is encouraged to apply.

I’m Third Golf Tournament

Since starting in 2003, the I’m Third Golf Tournament has raised over $350,000 over the years to provide financial assistance to over one quarter of the 1,000 children who attend Camp Wood YMCA during the summer. Most receive assistance based on family size and income. Click here to learn more about the annual event during the summer.

Flamekeepers – An Honorary Donor Society

To keep “the flame burning”, Camp Wood YMCA has established Flamekeepers, an honorary donor society.  The society serves to acknowledge and honor those who have made plans for a deferred gift to Camp Wood YMCA.

The flame of the campfire is a unifying image/experience for Camp Wood YMCA.  For mare than 95 years the children and families attending Camp Wood YMCA have spent time around the campfire – building friendships, learning important values and experiencing the majesty of the Flint Hills.
