Traditional Camps, ages 7-17
Traditional Camp is our most popular option and introduces campers to a variety of classic camp activities (horseback riding, swimming, archery, etc.) while also allowing campers the opportunity to customize the week to their interests with daily "skillbuilders" and cabin choice activities.
Horse Camps, ages 7-17
Indulge your child's love of horses at one of Camp Wood YMCA's popular horse camps. Campers spend their mornings at our hilltop arena and on beautiful prairie trails for a week of riding, practice, and fun. Whatever your child's skill level, we have a horse camp for them.
Day Camps, ages 6-13
Now offering Traditional and Horse Day Camps! Join us for all the fun of summer camp from 8:30 to 5:30, Monday through Friday. Just like overnight campers, day campers learn new skills, build character and make new friends while at camp.
Mini-Camps, ages 5-8
Mini-Camp is a four-day, three-night session for children ages 5 through 8 and is based on our Traditional Camp model. Mini-camp introduces new campers to a variety of classic camp activities (archery, swimming, horseback riding, etc.) while tailoring each program to the unique needs of our youngest campers.
Teen Camps, ages 13-17
Teen camps are designed with our oldest campers in mind--allowing them to experience their favorite activities like the Alpine Tower and canoeing while also trying new activities geared for the unique interests and skill levels of teenagers.
Leadership Camps, ages 11-17
Empower your child or teen to explore their strengths as a leader during one of our popular leadership camps. Whether your child hopes to join our staff as a future counselor or wrangler, or they hope to make a difference in their school and community, we offer training and activities to suit their goals.
Campers vs. Wild, ages 10-17
Immerse yourself in the wilds of the Tallgrass Prairie. Campers will tent camp most nights, cook meals over campfires, build survival shelters, explore best practices for hiking and Leave No Trace camping, all while learning valuable lessons of the Kansas Prairie at the new Preston Outdoor Education Station and beyond.
Skateboard Camp, ages 10-17
Whether you’re a beginner or an expert skater, come spend the week in our brand new skate park perfecting your tricks and learning from our experienced skate staff.
Construction Camp, ages 10-17
Spend a week learning carpentry and construction. We will conquer projects that range from simple upcycling to larger, challenging construction work.
Drama Camp, ages 10-17
Indulge your creative side and spend a week exploring the performing arts at Camp Wood YMCA. Surrounded by campers and counselors with similar interests, you’ll get to spend your days immersed in the arts.
Paintball Camps, ages 10-17
Battle it out with other campers on our paintball course while learning techniques and strategies from our experienced and enthusiastic staff.
Top Camp Chef, ages 10-17
Take your love of cooking to camp where you’ll learn skills to make you a top chef. Campers will spend their mornings in a large industrial kitchen learning meal planning, recipes, menu development and, of course, cooking. Campers also get to eat their creations!
Just for Girls Camp, ages 10-17
The messages and expectations absorbed by today's young women are often confusing and sometimes damaging. This new camp opportunity continues the Camp Wood YMCA tradition to help young women grow in confidence and character, empowering them to become leaders in their schools and communities. Girls will explore new skills, adventures and friendships with the support and encouragement of our dynamic female staff. Each girl will return home with a sound understanding of what it means to be healthy in spirit, mind and body in today's world.
Just for Boys Camp, ages 10-17
This new camp harkens back to the origins of Camp Wood YMCA, which was founded to prepare young men with the skills, values and opportunities necessary to become future leaders. Led by our outstanding staff team of male role models, boys in this camp will grow in confidence and character through new adventures and friendships, learning to become healthy in spirit, mind and body while navigating the competing definitions of what t means to be a boy in today's world.
Paddle and Climb Trip, ages 14-17
New this year to Camp Wood YMCA, campers will embark on a week-long off-camp adventure. After a one-night stay at camp, these adventurers will head to Colorado where they’ll experience two days of climbing and two days of whitewater rafting. Led by professional outfitters and supervised by Camp Wood YMCA staff, this will an awesome trip for the young adventurer.
Media Camp, Ages 10-17
Do you love documenting the world around you with stories, pictures and video? Then join us for our first-ever Media Camp where you'll have the opportunity to capture and share your summer camp experience through various media like news broadcasts, a camp newspaper or podcasts.
