EMPLOYMENT

Requirements for Summer Employment:

1. Camp Staff must be 18 yrs or older, unless working in the kitchen

2. All staff must furnish Camp Wood YMCA with a current physical examination (within the past 24 months) signed by a licensed physician, showing you to be in good health and free of contagious diseases and mental illness.  Camp Wood YMCA will furnish physical form.

3. First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.

4. All staff will be required to go through a background check

5. All staff will be required to attend a staff training laid out for thier specific positions

6. Lifeguard certification is a plus, in house training may be available

Camp Nurse – Great opportunity for school nurses looking for extra income, or parents/grandparents, with RN license, looking for a way to reduce the overall expenses of summer camp.

Senior Counselor- Male & Female; will be responsible for the supervision of a cabin group; plan & direct programs

Summer Unit Leader- Individual with supervision and child care experience, motivated leader with strong organizational skills. Responsible for supervision of all staff within unit, acting as a resource, staff advocate, and troubleshooter.

Waterfront Director- Experienced in lakefront lifeguarding with WSI or YSI, CPR, and First Aid Certifications. Good leadership skills a must, responsible for supervising lakefront and swimming instructions. Must be 21yrs or older.

Lifeguard – To assist Waterfront Director in leading lakefront activities and swimming lessons.

Arts & Crafts Director- To facilitate art projects within our arts program including ceramics, weaving, painting and others.

Nature Director- To create and facilitate activities pertaining to nature studies and outdoor living skills. Includes stream studies, fossil studies, fire and shelter building among others.

Adventure Program Director – Direct and facilitate the use of the Alpine Tower and Low Ropes teambuilding courses. Training is provided, previous experience in high adventure and supervision preferred.

Adventure Program Staff – Responsible persons to assist the Adv. Director in the use and facilitation of the Alpine Tower and Low Ropes teambuilding. Training is provided, experience in high adventure preferred.

Horse Program Director – Responsible for the planning and facilitation of all horse related activities and camps. Previous experience in supervision and related work a must.

Wrangler – Assists the Horse Program Director with riding lessons and trail rides. Also responsible for the care of horse and tack.

Office Assistant – Responsible for assisting the office personnel and Camp Nurse in filing, paperwork, data entry, and photo archives. Also oversees the Camp Store. Must be highly organized and motivated.

Kitchen Help – Cooks and assistant cooks to provide meals to 100+ people.

Dishwasher – Washes meal time dishes and assist in other kitchen duties when necessary.
